TRIBUNAL DE GRANDE INSTANCE

HERITAGE /

The glorious restoration of the Palais de Justice in Strasbourg, celebrates its historical architectural spaces with contemporary lighting. The renovation project of this listed building, entrusted to Spanish architectural firm Garcés-De Seta-Bonet, had to meet the requirements of upgrading while remaining functional and respectful of the existing architecture.

On entering the new building, a grand hall of granite and marble illuminated by Optelma’s Circus+ pendants, gives a sense of the scale of this projects magnificence. The work made it possible to add a floor and to increase the number of offices by reducing their size as well as that of the courtrooms.

Quad 81 linear systems continuously illuminate the sprawling corridors, including the contemporary wood-clad courtrooms. Mitred corners provide fluidity from space to space. On the different floors, spaces designed like glazed galleries offer view of the central interior garden.

The courtyard created in the heart of the Palais is the public space, providing a spectacle of light with its triple height ornate ceilings. Separated from these grand public spaces, the new buildings including functional rooms, courtrooms and corridors are given privacy and a more contemporary feel.
