This major redevelopment of Durham University’s gateway building is a state-of-the-art sustainable building, designed by Cundall and lit buy Optelma to meet the establishments ambitious sustainability aspirations.

This included upgrading to LED with automatic lighting control to minimise energy usage, complemented by maximisation of natural daylight. Laxa Pendants create playful local lighting around the canteen with Quad 100 lighting the corridors and expansive library.

‘BREEAM’ awarded an ‘Excellent’ rating to Durham, who also won ‘Best Education Building’ at LABC Building Excellence Northern Awards 2013.
