Completed in September 2015, The Diamond is the University of Sheffield’s hub for Engineering students, built to achieve BREEAM Excellent standards. The iconic building houses specialist teaching facilities for engineering as well as lecture theatres, seminar rooms, a library and more than 1000 study spaces. The project spans 19,500m2 of teaching and learning facilities for students and staff, with a total project value of £81 Million.
NG Bailey specified intelligent lighting systems from Optelma, including large circular stretched ceiling panels in the atrium, and Quad 100 curved linear systems in the lecture theatres. Every fitting is connected to a comprehensive, intelligent DALI lighting control system. The system is fully addressable, controllable, and dimmable and includes an integrated intelligent emergency lighting monitoring and testing facility.
